| The Palos Verdes Sea Kings trekked up to Encino Saturday evening for a non-league match up with the Crespi Celts. The field conditions were “dusty” at best, but feeling right at home, the Sea Kings stormed to a 5-0 first quarter lead. PV dominated possession with some great team play from the attack and a defense that allowed no shots on goal.
The second quarter was similar with Palos Verdes scoring three more times and Crespi managing but two shots on goal. Score at half time found the Sea Kings on top 8-1.
A more aggressive Crespi defense held the Sea Kings to 3 goals in the third quarter, while their attack mustered enough continuity to create a goal of their own. At the end of three periods, the score was 11-2 in favor of Palos Verdes. In the final quarter of play, both teams racked up 2 goals apiece to achieve the final 13-4 margin for the Sea Kings.
Palos Verdes again showing the depth of its team had 7 players scoring with 4 more players assisting. Leading the scoring with four goals was Jon Spangler. Brandon Hixenbaugh, Alex Richardson and David Scott had 2 goals apiece and adding a goal each was Tim Yang, Nolan Semel and Andrew Pandora. There were a total of 6 assists, David Scott and Sammy Romer had two each and adding one apiece were Peter Trelenberg and Alex Richardson. Goalies Alex Marin and Reuben Vollmer both played strong games guarding the net.
